Hold a key.
Talk. Done.
Hold Right ⌥, say what you mean, let go. Clean, punctuated text appears in whatever app you're in: Mail, Slack, Notes, your browser, your code editor. Your voice is turned into text right on your Mac.
Three steps. No app switching.
Hold your key
Right Option by default. Prefer Fn/Globe, Right Command or your own combo? Pick it in Settings.
Just talk
Ramble, pause, change your mind. Your words show live in the little pill while you speak.
Let go
Tidy text lands where your cursor was, and your clipboard is put back the way it was.
Talking for a while? Double-tap the key for hands-free mode and tap again to stop. Esc cancels.
"Thanks for the update comma see you Tuesday period new line Brian"
Thanks for the update, see you Tuesday.
Brian
Voice commands like "comma", "period", "new line", "new paragraph" and "scratch that" work on your Mac, even with AI cleanup off.
Your voice stays on your Mac.
Speech recognition runs inside the app, using your Mac's own chip. There's no account to make and no cloud transcription service listening in.
Writes the way you would.
Every plan gets every feature. Plans only differ in how many Macs you use.
Clean text, not a transcript
Drops the "um"s and false starts, fixes punctuation and capitals, and turns spoken lists into real lists. It keeps your words and never adds its own.
Command mode
Select some text, hold the key with Shift and say what to change.
Snippets
Say a short phrase and get your saved text, exactly as you wrote it.
Your own dictionary
Teach it names, brands and trade words so they're spelled right every time. Starts empty, fills with your words.
Many languages
Pick a multilingual speech model and it can detect the language for you, or always write in English.
Voice commands
Say "new line", "period" or "scratch that" and it does what you mean.
Matches the app you're in
The writing style follows the app in front. You can change any of them.
Anyone who'd rather talk than type.
Writers
Get the first draft out at the speed you think. Voice commands handle commas, periods and new paragraphs.
Developers
Dictate commit messages, PR descriptions, docs and code comments. Per-app styles keep code-editor text tidy.
Support and sales
Answer emails and chats faster, with your own snippets and a dictionary for product and customer names.
Sore wrists or RSI
Give your hands a break. Hold one key and talk; hands-free mode lets you dictate longer without holding it.
Confidential notes
Client, patient or private notes stay on your Mac: audio is never uploaded. (We don't claim any compliance certification.)
On the go
On a plane, a train or bad Wi-Fi, dictation keeps working, because it doesn't need the internet.
A real Mac app. Small, quick, and quiet.

Questions
Does it work in every app?
It works anywhere you can type: email, chat, documents, browsers, forms and code editors. It pastes the text where your cursor was. If an app won't accept it, the text is copied so you can press ⌘V.
Is my voice sent anywhere?
No. Speech recognition runs on your Mac and recordings are deleted right after. If you turn on cloud AI cleanup, only the text is sent to the service you choose, and Settings shows a clear warning when you pick it.
Will it run on my older Mac?
Any Mac with macOS 13 Ventura or later, Apple Silicon or Intel. Apple Silicon Macs use the graphics chip for speed. Intel Macs use the processor, and the app suggests a lighter speech model for them.
What permissions does it need?
Microphone (to hear you), Input Monitoring (to notice your key from any app) and Accessibility (to paste the text where you were). The first-run tour opens each setting for you, and a Repair permissions button fixes things if macOS gets stuck.
How big is the download?
The app is small. On first run you choose a speech model: from 148.9 MB for the fast Base (English) model, up to 1.61 GB for the most accurate multilingual one, Large v3 Turbo. You can change it any time.
What if it isn't right for me?
Try it free for 7 days first. If you buy and change your mind, you get a full refund within 14 days of purchase. See the refund policy.
How is it different from Wispr Flow?
Tap to Talkie recognises speech on your Mac instead of in the cloud, works offline, has no weekly word limit and is a one-time purchase. Wispr Flow also runs on Windows, iPhone and Android. Full comparison.
Can I move my license to a new Mac?
Yes. In Settings → License, click "Deactivate This Mac" to free up a seat, then enter your key on the new Mac.
Do I need an internet connection?
Only to download a speech model the first time, to activate your license and to check for updates. The app re-checks the license at most once a day and keeps working offline for up to 14 days between checks; during the free trial it makes no license checks at all. Dictation itself works offline.
Stop typing everything.
Say it once and it's written. Tap to Talkie is coming soon, with a free 7-day trial.
